You have 15 perfect days a year according to a survey of two thousand American adults commissioned by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council. The council also discovered that the average person’s “perfect day” is sunny and 74 degrees, with time spent outside, time spent with family and friends, and time spent watching TV.
In addition to the perfect days, people also believed they had 204 good days. What made them good? Finding money in their pockets, sleeping in without waking up to an alarm, lying in bed listening to the rain, receiving a small act of kindness, and performing a small act of kindness for someone else.
This is good news for people who believe in Jesus because it means we have a chance to make people’s days not just good but great and perfect, all by following the new command Jesus gives us: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34,35).
By consistently loving other people, we not only bless their days, but we improve our own days too. Then when they ask why we’re being so kind, we have the perfect opportunity to talk about what Jesus has done for us—and how, thanks to him, there’s a place called heaven, where every single day will be perfect.
