Flowers … again!

When the long Michigan winter finally lets go, I notice little shoots in my garden—even as the snow is still melting.

Usually it’s the daffodils and hyacinths that are among the very first flowers brave enough to poke their heads through the soil into the cool sunlight.

There are years when they get snowed on as a reward. I have many photos of tulips and hyacinths bowing their pretty pink heads under the snow. But still, they push forward. It never ceases to amaze me to see life coming back to my garden after months of darkness and snow.

By now, I should be used to it, right? I see it every year, and yet something still thrills me.

I like to think it thrills God as well. Our God never gets tired of making miracles, miracles we get bored with that he never finds tiring—the sun rising, the stars shining—all of it is a daily miracle!

And he displays his love for us in the beauty of his creation. “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:22).

Let’s exult in the returning of springtime—a miracle of God!
