I’m never sure if it’s easier to “let go” quickly or over a long time. I’ve lost loved ones very unexpectedly. Other times the loss was drawn out over years.
Letting go is never easy. Some say the season of fall is all about learning what it means to let go, year after year. And I suppose this is true. We learn that pain is usually only for a season … that life goes on and that we will eventually have a NEW season of hope and joy.
How did our Lord and Savior deal with letting go?
Well, he wept over Lazarus. And in the days before Jesus died, he spent time in intense prayer and with his loved ones—talking with them and spending time in fellowship.
But even though he was God, I’m gonna guess that letting go wasn’t easy for him. And, therefore, he knows that letting go is not easy for us. He’s been there.
Connecting with a God who understands just what you’re going through can get you through a season of letting go. Whether it’s a relationship, a job, the loss of health, or the death of a loved one, you can always lean on the Lord in prayer. He had to let go sometimes when he lived on earth. But he’ll never let go of YOU.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13).
