When it comes to the future, it’s like we are wearing blindfolds. We want a sign that everything will be okay. Does God give signs? The answer is yes, but not necessarily in the places we so often look, like everyday occurrences. That is NOT how God gives signs.
Here is God’s sign that it will all turn out: “This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12). Do you want assurance of the future? Then you must look at the past. There are times in history when God lifted the blindfold off and said, “Go ahead. Take a peek.” He doesn’t ask us to read the stars but only to follow the star that leads to the Savior’s manger. He doesn’t ask us to climb to heaven into his mind but only to climb a hill called Calvary to see God’s heart. He rips the blindfold off and says, “This is what I wanted to show you!”
Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 or 25 years? Right where you are now, led by the Lord who loves you. So do not be afraid. When the blindfold is finally removed in heaven, your Jesus will say, “Look, my child, this is what I was leading you to.” For now, be thankful that God has given you a peek from beneath the blindfold!
