Imagine today is your day to praise the Lord in front of the family of believers. Someone hands you a microphone, and as the houselights go down and the spotlight glows, you begin to attest to all that God has done for you. What do you say? How do you thank God aloud in conversation?
“Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever” (Psalm 111:1-3).
The psalmist says that God’s great works are pondered by “all who delight in them.” To delight in something means that the something “gives great pleasure.” What has God done in your life that gives you great pleasure or that you delight in?
If we sit for a minute and ponder (in silence with our phones far away from us), what will we come up with? There will probably be a mix: some very public examples and some very personal joys. Some days and seasons it will be hard to remember the great things God has done, and perhaps it’s in those times we most need the Holy Spirit’s help. Remembering God’s past goodness in sending his Son renews our confidence in God.
May God walk with you as you spend this time with him. May your pondering bring great blessing to you and to anyone with whom you share it.
