God’s church. Your place.

Who placed your right hand as your right hand and not as your kneecap? God did.

At church, who places people with musical gifts in musical service? And who places those with empathy and caring skills in positions where they can help others? God is at work. God places people like he places a right hand.

At home, I needed a tin snips tool to cut some sheet metal. It was boxed up, so I used a regular scissors. Do you think it cut the metal? Nope. And guess what happened to the scissors? I broke it.

Each tool serves a special purpose, and other tools cannot do what that tool can do. A big wrench seems so strong, but it just can’t cut paper as well as a scissors. So the wrench shouldn’t think, “If every one of these tools were like me, we’d get things done.”

The Bible teaches it this way: “The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor” (1 Corinthians 12:21-23).

Would you like more recognition for serving at your church? Probably. Volunteers are often underappreciated. But not by God.

It is God’s church, and everybody is honored. That’s what God says. Everybody is important. Everybody is needed. Everybody has a place and purpose. What’s yours?
