Help for the directionally challenged

I am very directionally challenged. I can turn the wrong way coming out of a restaurant bathroom! Driving before I owned a GPS was an even greater challenge. I’m amazed I made it anywhere.

Now I don’t know what I’d do without my GPS. What an amazing gadget! Not only does it give me clear directions to get me where I need to go; it also warns me of approaching hazards or traffic jams along the way.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a GPS for our lives—a device that would always guide us in the right direction and warn us of any roadblocks that might divert us from following God’s path?

Actually, we do. God has given us a spiritual GPS: Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval. They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things” (2 Timothy 3:16,17 GW).

Through the Old Testament history lessons, the wisdom of Proverbs, and the teachings of Jesus and his apostles in the New Testament, God gives us a clear road map for our lives to help us arrive at our ultimate destination. And he provides warnings about the hazards we may encounter en route, complete with examples of what happens to those who don’t heed his cautions.

I don’t go many places without using my car’s GPS. I go even fewer places without utilizing my spiritual GPS.
